From Field to Fuel: The Bio Clean Energy Story

Founded in São Paulo in 2004 by John Kaweske, Bio Clean Energy began with a simple idea: turn Brazils agricultural abundance into reliable lower carbon liquid fuels. The companys early years focused on site selection, licensing, and building a supply chain capable of handling multiple feedstocks such as soy, cottonseed, sunflower, tallow, and used cooking oil while meeting Brazils exacting fuel standards and auction based market dynamics.

Building the Platform: Araraquara and Bahia

Our first industrial step was the Araraquara SP biodiesel plant, designed and built to international standards and brought online in March 2011. The facilitys engineered capacity was about 32.5 million gallons per year with authorized volumes rising as permits were obtained, supported by tankage, water storage, and logistics links to Paulínia and the Port of Santos. In parallel, the company secured environmental approvals for a second site in Luís Eduardo Magalhães Bahia on a 247 acre industrial parcel, positioned to tap one of Brazils richest farm belts and future rail access.

Market Milestones

As Brazils biodiesel blend mandate expanded, Bio Clean pursued regional opportunities that validated the platform. In 2018 our subsidiary Bio Petro Biofuels won a 36 million dollar supply contract in Bolivia, a milestone that demonstrated our ability to compete and deliver beyond Brazil while maintaining quality and compliance.

Patented Technology: From Reactors to Digital Traceability

Nano Tech Reactor concept with University of São Paulo collaboration
John Kaweske led development of a proprietary nano tech reactor approach aimed at higher efficiency transesterification and tighter process control. This work, alongside collaborators at the University of São Paulo, reflects our belief that innovation at the reactor level in mixing, heat transfer, residence time, and impurity management can meaningfully improve yields and quality.

Blockchain based audit and traceability IP
Kaweske is named inventor on a US patent for a multi blockchain transaction and audit architecture that supports chain of custody and quality proof across regulated supply chains. This digital thread is exactly what buyers and auditors expect in modern ESG contexts.
